Weber State forward Lily Blum (5) rises to stop the ball in front of Utah Tech's Michelle Rodriguez (3) during a Big Sky soccer match Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, in Ogden. (ROBERT CASEY, Weber State Athletics)Despite a somewhat baffling loss to start the week, Weber State women’s soccer regained first place in the Big Sky Conference standings Sunday with a 3-0 victory at Montana to cap the team’s final regular-season road trip.
The shutout win gives Weber State (8-6-2, 4-1-1 Big Sky) 13 points in the conference table, leading Northern Arizona and Utah Tech, each in second place with 10 points.
Senior forward Lily Blum put in two unassisted goals to lead the victory, pushing her season total to 10. That leads the Big Sky’s golden boot race by four goals.
Junior Oakley Anderson opened the scoring in the 16th minute by chasing down a high-arcing entry from Harlee Thomas and heading it past Montana keeper Avery Heeb.
Heeb ultimately made seven saves, including three shots from fifth-year forward Sayler Schlosser who remained in action. But she couldn’t stop either of Blum’s shots on frame.
Blum’s first goal came in the 24th minute when a long-range shot caromed high off the crossbar. The ball eventually made its way back to Blum, who tried again from about 24 yards out and past Heeb.
In the 64th minute, Blum top-shelved a free kick from the top right corner of the penalty box with her left foot for the final 3-0 margin.
Lauren Butorac and Maya Cordova split halves in goal for Weber State, each recording two saves.
The result helped the Wildcats rebound from a 2-1 loss to last-place Portland State on Thursday, WSU’s first defeat in league play. Elle Frazier and Kendall Johnson scored to put PSU ahead 2-0 at halftime.
Blum scored 26 seconds into the second half but WSU couldn’t find an equalizer. A play in the 83rd minute saw Weber send a cross to the net and a PSU defender pulled down a WSU attacker in a melee in front of the net that finished with PSU keeper Finley Crabtree corralling the ball and ending the threat.
WSU has a week of rest. The Wildcats next hit the pitch at Wildcat Soccer Field hosting Northern Colorado (2-0-2 Big Sky, 8 points) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. Then comes a likely big showdown with Northern Arizona as Halloween recovery programming, kicking off at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
Weber finishes the regular season Nov. 5, hosting Idaho State.
