Bechtel announced Friday it has awarded $30,000 in community commitment grants to nine non-profit organizations serving northern Utah counties. The charitable-giving grants were presented during a ceremony at the company’s office. The event recognized the third year of Bechtel’s Ogden-based employee-led Community Investment Advisory Committee (CIAC).

Since its inception, the CIAC has provided $87,000 in grants to 22 non-profit organizations throughout Utah as part of Bechtel’s community commitment in the region.

“Our employee-led Community Investment Advisory Committee is an innovative approach to directly connect our most valuable assets ― our employees ― with non-profit organizations who address the needs of our communities where we live and work,” said Rich Tighe, Bechtel’s Sentinel Project Director and a company Senior Vice President. “We are proud to make these community investments into Northern Utah.”

Non-profits which received 2026 grants included: Free Community Meal, Ogden Contemporary Arts, Suzy’s Senior Companionship Services, Homeless Veterans Fellowship, Ogden School Foundation, Ogden Nature Center, Catholic Community Services food program, Ogden School Foundation, Hope Hero Foundation, and Wolf Creek Foundation.

At the beginning of each grant cycle, the CIAC identifies funding priorities based on their assessment of community needs and alignment with Bechtel’s charitable giving focus areas. This year’s priorities were Education/STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Career Pathways; Children, Youth, and Family; Food Security; and Military Families/Veteran Services.

Over the summer, Bechtel issued a regional-wide request for proposals based on the CIAC’s funding priorities. Interested nonprofit organizations submitted their proposals to Bechtel. Then ― through the CIAC’s collaboration, review and discussion ― finalists were identified and invited to the grants award ceremony.

About the Employee-Led Community Investment Advisory Committee

The mission behind the Community Investment Advisory Committee (CIAC) grant is to allocate company-funded grants where the need is greatest, using the collective skills and knowledge of Bechtel’s employees to make a positive impact in the communities where they live and work.

The CIAC represents Bechtel’s diverse workforce and is comprised of selected non-managerial employees who have been recognized for their leadership qualities by their managers and peers. This innovative approach gives Bechtel’s employees direct influence where a portion of the company’s charitable contributions are made, extending funding across a wider array of regional nonprofit organizations.
