Police, SWAT have standoff with Hyrum man who told authorities he killed his wife

HYRUM — Police from departments around Northern Utah found themselves in a standoff with a man who allegedly told dispatch Sunday morning that he had killed his wife. According to a release from the Cache County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a home in Hyrum at around 5 a.m. after the call was received. Upon their arrival, the 45-year-old suspect reportedly opened fire, forcing the deputies to take cover and call for the agency's SWAT team.
