Salt Lake City-based musician Yudi Ko will play original and cover songs at Bites, Brews and Tunes this Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at The Monarch.

The Monarch hosts a specialty market this Saturday — Bites, Brews and Tunes — that focuses on tasty “bites” from small Utah businesses and a sampling of tunes from local musicians.

This time around, the beer garden will be stocked with beer and seltzers from UTOG and Roosters breweries and some new vendors are set to join the afternoon bash, including Eats Bakery, Twisted Tiramisu, Crystal Malmstrom Popcorn, Cheryls Bagels and more.

Eats Bakery makes an art out of making dairy-free baked treats. Since launching in February 2021, the husband-and-wife team behind this new business have been offering up their delicious, organic (and gut-friendly) sweets to the public at farmers markets, shows and events around the state.

It all started with the cinnamon rolls. Having a hard time finding good pastries that were dairy free led them to start the new foodie business, unexpectedly. Everyone who tried their vegan goodies couldn’t get enough and encouraged them to start selling.

“I realized that there was a gift given and I needed to share it with the world, for people who are just like me and my family and want to still enjoy a birthday cake, Thanksgiving and Christmas pie, or cookies and milk (dairy free milk, of course),” said co-owner Kandi Tesen, who says you’d never know their treats are vegan. “We want to bring delicious eats to the world, without anyone being able to tell the difference between dairy free or not, vegan or not.”

On Saturday, Eats Bakery will have cinnamon rolls, “Funfetti” rolls, Espresso rolls, donuts, mini lemon loaves, chocolate chip cookies and more.

Christian Scheller, Korene Greenwood and Yudi Ko delighted the audiences on the patio at the Monarch Markets over the summer in 2021, and now they’re back.

Ko, a singer/songwriter currently living in Salt Lake City, is working on a new album and starting a new a cappella group with three other women. She is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, and has lived and performed in other cities including Berkeley, California; Cincinnati; and Washington, D.C., before landing in Utah. Ko’s original music and reimagined cover tunes can be viewed on YouTube and enjoyed live and in-person this Saturday at The Monarch.

Saturday markets at The Monarch are for listening to live music with some goodies and a brew. In addition to this month’s Bites, Brews and Tunes, you can stop into Ogden Contemporary Arts to see the winter art exhibit, “LAND BODY,” make a candle at Art Box and walk through the creative studios.

Bites, Brews and Tunes is from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Monarch. For more information, visit themonarchogden.com/happenings.
