After a pause during COVID-19, the Little Artisan’s Market returns on July 1, from 6-9 p.m. at the Local Artisan Collective.

This year, 25 young artists, ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade, will be selling drawings, paintings, pottery, cotton candy, leatherwork, felting, chain mail, dyeing, jewelry, doll making, woodworking, candle making … even slime.

The young artists are juried in, just like in a real art show. This year, youth artists from the Collective juried the artists in.

The Little Artisan’s Market was started in 2018 by Hollie McKeeth, Cally Rhoades, Stephanie Howerton, Jenny Venegas and Lazann Eilander. “[We] wanted to give children a chance to see what it is like to be an artist. A place that encourages their art and dreams but also gives them the start of looking at what artists have to do to sell their art,” says Stephanie Howerton, co-owner of The Local Artisan Collective.

The Local Artisan Collective has a podcast where different artists are interviewed every month. This month, the artists from The Little Artisan’s Market will be featured. The podcast will be live at the end of June and available at: localartisancollective.com/ podcast-2/.

“There are so many talented youth in our community,” says Howerton. “Our favorite part of the market is to see how happy the children get when they sell a piece of art. The smile on their face is worth all of the work to make this event happen.”

Visit the Little Artisan’s Market on July 1 and support “little local artists.”
