OGDEN -- Nominations are open to the public for this year's Mayor's Awards in the Arts.

"This is an opportunity for the public to nominate a deserving artist, art advocate or organization," reads a press release on the awards program.

Nominations opened up on Monday and will continue through Aug. 11.

In the release, Lorie Buckley, Ogden City arts administrator, laid out the importance of recognizing local artists.

"As we prepare to celebrate the annual Mayors Awards in the Arts, it's important to remember the vital role that our local artists and arts organizations play in our city," she said. "By recognizing and supporting local creatives, we can help foster a vibrant and thriving culture that benefits us all. So please take the time to nominate an artist or organization that has been enriching our lives through their artistic talents and contributions."
