Community Cinema: Movies playing in a neighborhood near you
The season of outdoor movies will end soon. Here are your chances to catch flicks outside this week, plus a few indoor films for those who prefer the great indoors. All films are free.
- Free Friday Films in Layton — Get your Hakuna Matata fix with The Disney classic “The Lion King,” 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, Kenley Amphitheater, 403 N. Wasatch Drive, Layton.
- Centerville’s Movies in the Park — This summer series closes out with “Trek: The Movie,” dusk Friday, Aug. 10, Smith Park, 300 N. 100 East, Centerville.
- West Point’s Movie in the Park — Come out to see “Coco” and enjoy activities related to the movie, plus food trucks, 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, Loy Blake Park, 550 N. 3500 West, West Point. Film starts at dusk.
- Weber County Main Library — A LEGO movie marathon on Saturdays kicks off with “The LEGO Movie,” 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, Weber County Library, 2464 Jefferson Ave., Ogden.
- Weber County Library Ogden Valley Branch — Misfit bugs teach some valuable facts about life in “A Bug’s Life,” 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, Ogden Valley Branch, 131 S. 7400 East, Huntsville.
- Weber County Library Pleasant Valley Branch — This week you’ve again got two chances to see films at this library. Sherlock Holmes meets garden gnomes in “Sherlock Gnomes,” 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 11. Then, Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince join forces against a great enemy in “Justice League,” 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, Pleasant Valley Branch, 5568 Adams Ave., Washington Terrace.
- Movies on the Mountain — Let the kids burn off energy at Kids Zone Activities, then watch “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” on the big screen, 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, Snowbasin Resort, 3925 E. Snowbasin Road, Huntsville.
- Movie Night on the Bay — Spend the day on the beach or the water, then watch “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie” at dusk Monday, Aug. 13, Willard Bay State Park, 900 W. 650 North, Willard. Film is free, however, park entrance fees apply.
- Weber County Library Southwest Branch — “Descendants 2” continues the tales of children of favorite fairy tale characters, noon Monday, Aug. 13, Southwest Branch, 2039 W. 4000 South, Roy.
- Davis County Library North Branch — Celebrate the end of summer and the close of the summer reading program with a screening of “Coco,” 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, North Branch, 562 S. 1000 East, Clearfield.
- Utah Film Center Free Film Screening — Two children in different eras set out on quests to find different lives in “Wonderstruck,” based on the critically-acclaimed Brian Selznick novel, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, Peery’s Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
- Weber County Library North Branch — See the hit movie “The Greatest Showman” at this newly renovated branch, 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, North Branch, 475 E. 2600 North, Ogden.
