Brokaw: Hallmark’s Christmas in July returns for a month of holiday fun
For the 12th year, Hallmark Channel viewers are treated to some winter holiday movies to enjoy while the weather is hot and the sun is warm. What better time to look ahead toward the holiday season, albeit it’s still half a year away.
Besides some returning favorites, there are two new originals.
The festivities began Monday on the streaming channel Hallmark Movies Now, so viewers are able to get their holiday “fix” at their own convenience. Monday was the world premiere of “Operation Nutcracker” starring Ashley Newbrough and Christopher Russell in a story about an antique nutcracker set to be auctioned off but mysteriously goes missing.
Throughout the month, the streaming service will have over 350 Christmas movies to access. They will also have weekly themed collections. Whether you enjoy the return of the Brennan Brothers, mysteries, enchanted holiday stories, classics, royal holiday tales, Christmas around the world or Hallmark Channel fan faves, they have put together collections for each theme from their library to satisfy every viewer with over 500 hours of viewing enjoyment.
Here is the rundown for Christmas in July on Hallmark Channel:
- Saturday — The television premiere of “Three Wise Men and a Baby: Extended Cut.” The three Brennan brothers must work together to care for a baby during the holidays. This Seattle fireman is left with an abandoned baby. Can the brothers, with the help of their mom, care for this little child without any screwups?
- July 13 — In the television premiere of “Rescuing Christmas,” Rachael Leigh Cook stars as Erin, a discontented woman who is granted three Christmas wishes. She’s not really into the holiday season, so her third wish is for Christmas to disappear. Voila. It’s gone. Will Sam (Sam Page) be able to help her bring back Christmas? Spoiler alert: Yes. After all, we’re talking Hallmark here!
- July 20 — Katie Leclerc is a local champion skier in Vermont. She teams with a local brewmaster (Ryan McPartlin) to create a special seasonal microbrew to save her family’s failing business. “A Very Vermont Christmas” will put viewers in the mood for some holiday spirits.
- July 27 — Tune in for “An Ice Palace Romance” starring Celeste Desjardins as a Chicago journalist who returns to her rural hometown to cover a skating tournament. Marcus Rosner plays the owner of the local ice rink who, along with his young daughter, helps her discover her life’s purpose and encourages her to follow her heart.
It might be a bit strange for some viewers to watch winter holiday films when it’s 90 degrees outside, but for many people it’s a tradition, especially when it comes to Hallmark movies.
