Contemporary Christian musician David Meece will perform Tuesday at the Brigham City Fine Arts Center, 58 S. 100 West, and on April 27 at Calvary Chapel Wasatch Front, 564 S. 800 East, in Clearfield.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. both evenings. A $5 donation will be taken at the door.

“(Meece) trained as a classical pianist, but he grew up listening to Top 40 Radio,” states a news release from People for Christ Ministry. “The result is evident on each of his 13 titles recorded since 1976. Come and be blessed by his dynamic music, hilarious comedy and deep truths discovered in his lifetime experiences.”

Meece was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame and received the 2009 Visionary Award for the Inspirational Male Soloist category, according to the biography on his website.

“Growing up in the small town of Humble, Texas, David distinguished himself as a child prodigy and began touring as a concert pianist at the age of 10. By 14, he performed the Mozart Piano Concerto in F Major with the Houston Chamber Orchestra,” it states.

He won a nationwide talent show at the age of 15, and “when he was 16, he was the featured soloist with the Houston Symphony, performing the difficult Khachaturian Piano Concerto, 45 minutes in length, under the direction of renowned conductor, Andre Previn.”

Meece received a full scholarship to study at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.

“It was there that he fully surrendered his life to Christ,” the website states. “He found his goals changing from his intended career as a classical pianist as he began to pen songs of his relationship with the Lord and sing them.”

Meece’s travels have taken him to Australia, Canada, Asia, Europe and South Africa.

Thirty of his compositions have reached the top of the charts, some in more than one genre.
