“Try not to confuse attachment with love. Attachment is about fear and dependency, and has more to do with love of self than love of another. Love without attachment is the purest love because it isn’t about what others can give you, because you’re empty. It is about what you can give others because you’re already full.” –Yasmin Mogahed

What eludes a person is not the experiences not had, but the feelings of acceptance and love, which we have craved our entire lives. However, that which we seek does not have a name, has been with us always, and wishes for us to unlock the power within us. Do we have the capacity to have a relationship without judgment, criticism, labels, or titles? The heart lends us the ability to experience love within its natural state.

During the holidays, the spirit of the heart opens itself in strength of emotions and courage. What is it about this connection with one another that binds us as kindred souls as one? As the winter solstice marks the end of a season and the elements, the renewing process of the heart also shifts into a place of transformation. The importance of the mindset aligns the mental highway for our visions, but the mind is only half of the puzzle. Its partner, the heart, bridges the gap and creates harmony in new worlds of reality.

The heartbeat that drives our motives is within the meanings of feelings felt and meanings given. The feeling is the secret. We are not slaves of our feelings, and they do not own us. The suggestions of our mind, in conjunction with the feelings of the past (because all feelings are from behind us), create that which we have already experienced. Only in the present moment are we able to recognize that the heartbeat of the feeling is whatever meaning we choose to make it.

Do the holidays represent moments of the past or the present for you? Your answer will be the heartbeat that follows you throughout the rest of the year to come, and the meaning given to the seeds planted by you.

The conversation is where one lives and dwells, and is the only conversation that matters in our lifetime, because without mastery over our thoughts and feelings, one cannot have mastery over any other avenue in their life. Pay close attention to your heartbeat and the suggestions of feelings they are trying to influence you with. You are the master of your feelings and what comes after them.
