Emma Gordhamer, 25, of Holladay, died Sunday after crashing and being ejected from her Honda Odyssey in Layton.

LAYTON — Authorities have identified a woman who died after being ejected from her vehicle along with a 3-year-old child in Layton on Sunday.

Per a release from the Utah Highway Patrol, Emma Gordhamer, 25, of Holladay, crashed and rolled the Honda Odyssey she was driving after taking the off-ramp at milepost 332 toward Antelope Drive.

Gordhamer died on the scene while the child was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after troopers rendered life-saving aid.

Following the issuance of an attempt-to-locate warning, UHP had pursued Gordhamer into Davis County from Salt Lake County when a trooper observed her traveling at what UHP Lt. Cameron Roden described as “an extreme amount of speed.”

“As they made that observation, the driver actually just continued driving at that same speed,” Roden told the Standard-Examiner. “(The driver) didn’t change their driving behaviors for the officer that was there.”

Moments before the fatal crash, troopers terminated the pursuit when Gordhamer attempted to exit Interstate 15, according to UHP.

Roden could not confirm whether the child — who was reportedly unrestrained in the vehicle at the time of the crash — belonged to Gordhamer.

He added that the child remained in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.

“This is something that will be under investigation and, by the time our team concludes, this will probably take us several months as they go do their full investigation on the crash itself,” Roden added.
