Weber State University students and community members celebrate the new graduates from the Dumke College of Health Professions on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

OGDEN — Thousands of Weber State University students will be rounding out their college careers to round out this week.

WSU’s commencement and convocation exercises are set for Friday and Saturday.

A press release from WSU earlier this month noted that 3,880 graduates will be honored and recognized during commencement and convocation ceremonies Friday and Saturday.

“Graduates are earning 4,517+ credentials, ranging from certificates to associate’s, bachelor’s, and postgraduate degrees,” the release said. “Over the past decade, WSU has awarded an increasing number of degrees and certificates, fueled by a growing number of pathways that help students both start and achieve their education goals.”

The release adds that this spring’s most-awarded degrees include nursing, radiography, health sciences and computer science.

Rachel Badali, interim public relations director, told the Standard-Examiner on Monday that the atmosphere on campus is electric this time of year.

“You can feel the energy on campus as we get closer to graduation,” she said. “There’s the excitement from graduates, and also from their family, friends and WSU faculty who supported them along the way. This week, thousands of graduating students will celebrate the hard work that got them to the finish line. When we see them in their caps and gowns, we’re looking at future leaders who will make our communities healthier, safer, smarter and more beautiful. It’s a special reminder of education’s power to open doors and change lives.”

The main university-wide commencement ceremony is set for 7 p.m. Friday at the Dee Events Center.

“During commencement, attendees will hear from guest speaker Kyle Poll, CEO of Utah’s popular GetOutPass,” the press release said. “Poll, a WSU graduate, makes local entertainment more accessible by selling annual access passes that grant entry to multiple attractions. He has helped lead GetOutPass through significant growth and a recent merger, providing families with access to more than 2,000 attractions across 33 U.S. markets.”
