Around 20 employees at Post Consumer Brands' Tremonton plant helped prepare food donations for the Tremonton Food Pantry in April as part of the company's Ingredients for Good initiative.

TREMONTON — A tradition of giving continued this month in Tremonton.

In a press release to the Standard-Examiner, it was noted that earlier this month — for the fifth year in a row — Post Consumer Brands’ Tremonton plant employees came together to make a substantial donation to the Tremonton Food Pantry as part of the company’s “Ingredients for Good” initiative.

“Late last week, 20 Post Consumer Brands’ Tremonton employees worked to assemble food packs totaling 2,650 meals for the Tremonton Food Pantry to be distributed to local families facing food insecurity,” the release said. “The plant also intends to donate $15,000 through Ingredients for Good this year to provide additional relief to the community in the fight against hunger.”

Carl Runyan, senior site director for the Tremonton Plant at Post Consumer Brands, said in an email to the Standard-Examiner that Ingredients for Good is a company-wide program.

“Since 2022, employees across Post Consumer Brands locations in the United States and Canada have come together to participate in the Ingredients for Good volunteer initiative,” he said. “As a company dedicated to feeding families in the communities we serve, we prioritize helping both people and pets that face food insecurity. This employee-led volunteer initiative is an opportunity for us to come together to support those in our communities who need a helping hand. This year, 24 of our locations, including Tremonton, participated in Ingredients for Good, supporting more communities than ever before.”

He said the Tremonton plant has participated in the Ingredients for Good initiative from the beginning as well as several other charitable ventures.

“Through our volunteer efforts, we’ve aided local organizations like the Tremonton Food Pantry and the United Way of Northern Utah — donating more than $60,000 to provide hunger relief in our community,” he said. “While the Ingredients for Good event takes place every April across Post Consumer Brands, all sites provide support year-round to the communities where we live and work in a variety of ways.

“Each year the Tremonton plant shows its support by hosting a coat drive benefiting the Tremonton Food Pantry. We also host a ‘cereal with Santa’ event in December where families can donate a non-perishable food item to the Tremonton Food Pantry – during the event they get to enjoy a bowl of cereal and get a picture with Santa. Our team members also participate in the Box Elder County Parade every August handing out free cereal to parade attendees. The Tremonton team also supports our local United Way, including hosting an annual cereal sale with proceeds benefiting United Way and each year the sale raises more than $20,000.”

Tremonton Food Pantry Director Carey Hunsaker told the Standard-Examiner on Friday they are grateful for the continued help from Post’s Tremonton plant.

“Post Consumer Brands did a big donation of ingredients packs for our food pantry — it was around 5,000 pounds of food,” she said. “Not only that, they also donate cereal continually to our food pantry, which we’re really grateful for. … The (meal) packs can be anything from rice and beans and canned meat to baking goods like sugar, flour, yeast and salt. All of these things are really good ingredients to keep our pantry full and continually keep our shelves full for the people that we serve here in our community.”

She said they regularly serve around 200 families — roughly 680 individuals — in Box Elder County.

Hunsaker noted that while the Post donations have been helpful, there are still items needed that the public can help fill with donations. She said the greatest needs include hygiene items, baking items (oil, sugar, flour), pancake mixes, canned pasta products, syrup, condiments and hearty canned soups.

Runyan said they’re more than happy to continue helping out the Tremonton community and cultivating this giving spirit among their employees for years to come.

“At Post Consumer Brands, we believe in creating a culture where volunteering and giving back is core to our purpose,” he said. “We have seen the impact the initiative has on our team members, they appreciate working for a company that shows up for the communities where they live and work, and look forward to how we can continue to make a positive impact for Tremonton.”
