According to a press release from the Ogden City Police Department, officers responded to a serious motorcycle crash near the 1000 block of Wall Avenue around 8:42 p.m. Tuesday.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, a 63-year-old man was traveling northbound on Wall Avenue on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a Nissan Versa exited a parking lot and entered the roadway, crossing into the path of the motorcycle,” the release said. “The motorcycle rider was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. At this time, impairment is not suspected as a contributing factor.”

The release adds that police and medical personnel provided immediate first aid at the scene. The motorcycle rider was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The 63-year-old male has not been identified at this time.

“We are deeply saddened that a life was lost tonight. Our thoughts are with the rider’s family, friends, and loved ones as they face an incredibly difficult loss,” the release said. “We also recognize the impact a tragedy like this can have on those involved, those who witnessed the crash, and the first responders and medical personnel who worked to help.”

Additionally, the release implores drivers to use more care while out on the road.

“Tonight’s tragedy is also a difficult reminder of how quickly circumstances can change on the road,” the release said. “We urge everyone whether you are driving, riding a motorcycle, biking, or walking, to slow down, stay alert, look twice, and watch out for one another.”

The release concludes by noting that the incident remains under investigation and that no further details are available to the public at this time.
