Ogden Arts logoOGDEN — The First Friday Art Stroll is nearly upon Ogden.
Set for Friday from 6-9 p.m., this month’s edition will ready the public for America250 and one of the city’s premier events — the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo later in the month.
In a press release from Ogden City Arts, the Dumke Arts Plaza is one of the main highlights for this week’s festivities.
“Luminous Ecologies by Meredith Connelly (@meredith.connelly on Instagram) has transformed the plaza into an immersive environment of light, movement, and interconnected life systems,” the release said. “Featuring the illuminated installations Water and Mushrooms & Snails, the exhibition explores ecology, mythology, and the delicate relationships that sustain the natural world.
“Through sculptural forms and shifting light, Connelly invites viewers to reflect on water as a life-giving force, the hidden intelligence of fungi, and the quiet organisms that maintain ecological balance all around us.”
Also part of this week’s First Friday Art Stroll will be the opening of the “Traces of the West” exhibit at the Eccles Art Center.
“Hosted by the Eccles Art Center and sponsored by Ogden Pioneer Days, Traces of the West celebrates the enduring spirit, landscapes, and stories of the American West through original works in a variety of mediums,” the Ogden Pioneer Days website reads. “From sweeping vistas to quiet, personal moments, the exhibition invites artists to reflect on the people, places, and traditions that continue to shape the West. In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, artists are also encouraged to explore themes of history, resilience, and the evolving identity of our nation through a Western lens.”
The exhibit will be open from 5-8 p.m. Friday and will be open to the public through July 31.
