HUNTSVILLE — Accessing the top of the Strawberry mountainside at Snowbasin Ski Resort will get a whole lot faster with the new DeMoisy Express lift coming ahead of the 2023-2024 ski season.
Doubling uphill capacity in the Strawberry area, one of the resort’s most popular areas, was needed to relieve congestion on busier days, according to the resort.
Strategic placement of the high-speed, six-person lift near the existing Strawberry Gondola bottom terminal will not only maximize uphill availability in the region, according to an announcement about the new lift, but also will allow for the creation of new trails and convenient access to the main base area.
Snowbasin Vice President and General Manager Davy Ratchford said the DeMoisy Express will allow the resort to maintain access to the popular area during certain times that otherwise have proven challenging for the operation of the Strawberry Gondola.
“To say that both the Snowbasin staff and loyal guests will be excited about this new lift announcement may the understatement of the year,” Ratchford said in a press release.
With the ability to transport 2,400 riders every hour and bottom-to-top service in approximately 10 minutes, Ratchford said guests will experience terrain easier and faster than ever before.
Adding to Snowbasin’s advanced ski lift system, ranked No. 2 by SKI Magazine in 2022, DeMoisy Express will be the resort’s 13th lift. It is named after DeMoisy Peak, which it will be nestled below.
