WASHINGTON, D.C. — The deadline is looming for high school students seeking nominations to the U.S. military academies for the classes starting in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Students can apply through Utah’s two U.S. senators, Sens. Mike Lee and Mitt Romney, or through their U.S. representative. Rep. Blake Moore serves Northern Utah, including Weber County and northern Davis County.

“Each year it’s my honor to nominate some of the best and brightest young people from across Utah to our nation’s fine military academies,” Lee says on the nomination page on his website.

The academies include the U.S. Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy and the Military Academy at West Point. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination, according to Lee’s website.

High schoolers are encouraged to reach out for nominations in the spring of their junior year to start the process. For seniors now applying, the deadline to submit materials to Romney’s office is Oct. 20. The deadline is Oct. 25 for Lee’s office and Oct. 15 in Moore’s office, according to their websites.

More information is available on each lawmaker’s website: lee.senate.gov/academy-nominations for Lee, romney.senate.gov/academy-nominations for Romney and blakemoore.house.gov/services/military-academy-nominations for Moore.
