Ken Phippen is the winner in the Farr West mayoral race, according to unofficial totals released Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021.

OGDEN — Farr West is on track to get a new mayor.

Ken Phippen, a City Council member, had led Mayor Lee Dickemore by four votes when preliminary vote totals were released Tuesday night. He widened his lead in unofficial results released Thursday to 25 votes, 977-952, and is headed to Farr West’s mayoral seat.

“I want to personally thank Mayor Z. Lee Dickemore for his dedication and tireless service to this community! He’s a good man and deserves our respect and thanks,” Phippen said on his campaign Facebook page late Thursday afternoon. He didn’t immediately respond to a query seeking comment.

The District 3 Ogden City Council race between Ken Richey and Priscilla Martinez was also close after early totals were released Tuesday, 994-960 in Richey’s favor. Richey widened that to a 1,226-1,152 margin, according to results released Thursday, and is headed to the City Council.

“I am excited to get to work and validate the votes cast for me, and earn the trust of those who voted for my opponent,” Richey said in a post on his campaign Facebook page.

Doug Stephens now holds the District 3 post, but he didn’t run for reelection.

The figures released Thursday by the Weber County Elections Office are still unofficial but represent the overwhelming majority of ballots cast. Vote totals are to be canvassed Nov. 16, when they become official.

With Thursday’s totals, two incumbent Weber County mayors face ouster following voting that culminated Tuesday, Dickemore and Mayor Sharon Bolos of West Haven. Bolos lost in the West Haven mayoral contest to Rob Vanderwood, a member of the city council there.

Incumbent mayors, meanwhile, will be returning in nine other cities following the voting — Washington Terrace, Harrisville, Plain City, North Ogden, Roy, South Ogden, Pleasant View, Marriott-Slaterville and Uintah.

Braden Mitchell will become the new mayor in Riverdale. Incumbent Mayor Norm Searle didn’t run.

Richard Sorensen will become mayor of Huntsville. Jim Truett, the incumbent mayor there, didn’t run.
