MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE — A sudden loss of power to three circuits at a substation Wednesday morning put residents, businesses and motorists in the dark.

The outage occurred at 9:50 a.m. and lasted less than an hour. The event, currently under investigation, resulted in 2,574 Rocky Mountain Power customers losing power.

Traffic lights and businesses along at least a portion of 12th Street as well as Business Depot Ogden were noticeably without power. Workers from businesses located within the BDO could be seen gathering outside in parking lots during the blackout.

RMP spokesperson Tiffany Erickson hypothesized the outage could have been caused by construction happening in the area but said no further details were available, pending the investigation.
