RIVERDALE — The Weber County search and rescue team on Sunday made what may be the last search for Libby Stimpson before cold weather sets in.
Stimpson’s sister, Mattie Heiner of Morgan, said the efforts didn’t yield results.
“To my knowledge, that is the last effort for the season as the weather is getting cold. Unfortunately, they were unable to locate Libby,” she said Tuesday. Weber County Sheriff’s Office officials, who are heading the investigation into the matter — regarded a missing person case — didn’t immediately respond to a request Tuesday seeking comment.
Sunday’s operation was focused around the footbridge over the Weber River in southern Riverdale, west of the Uintah area. That’s where Stimpson, 27, was reported to have fallen in the river earlier this year on May 1.
An intense search in and around the river ensued after she was reported missing, but so far her body has not been found. A sheriff’s office official told the Standard-Examiner last month that Stimpson’s body could have somehow gotten hung up under the water.

“We are managing the best we can,” said Heiner. She hopes for a resumption of search-and-rescue efforts when conditions permit.
