  • Looking to put a little extra money in your pocket? The Senior Companion Program is looking for individuals 55 and older who are living on moderate to low incomes to serve as companions and friends to homebound individuals in the community. Mileage, training and a small monthly stipend are available. On SSDI? Don’t worry, the stipend does not affect your benefits! Volunteering 15 hours a week could bring you around $270 more a month!

  • Looking to make a difference? Senior Medicare Patrol in Weber and Morgan counties is looking for volunteers. Help prevent Medicare fraud and abuse, and educate seniors about Medicare. You can help with distributing information, staffing exhibits or one-on-one Medicare counseling. It is up to you. Training is provided and required. You can do as little or as much as you desire.
  • The Weber/Morgan County ombudsman is looking for volunteers to be a voice and advocate for residents in Weber/Morgan County nursing homes and assisted living facilities. You can improve the residents’ quality of life, advocate for rights, help residents navigate a discharge or eviction, and more. This is a good way to increase your knowledge about nursing home regulations and increase your problem-solving skills. There is required training and continuing education, and in addition, some great mentoring. Do it on your time schedule. We like an hour commitment a week, but it can be discussed for special situations.
  • Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge is also looking for a few native garden caretakers. They would be responsible for the outdoor classroom and nature play area pollinator gardens. Duties would include weeding, making sure the drip irrigation lines are working, installing the inline timers, fertilizing and caring for the young plants until established.
