Fatal accident reported near Powder Mountain Resort on Monday morning

CACHE COUNTY — One person was killed and a second was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident Monday morning.
According to a press release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, an accident was reported at 8:12 a.m. Monday near the Powder Mountain Resort in unincorporated Cache County.
“Initial reports indicated that a commercial vehicle drifted onto the right shoulder of a dirt road near a construction site, causing the vehicle to roll over,” the release said. “Bystanders immediately began CPR on the 31-year-old driver, a Salt Lake City resident, until emergency medical personnel arrived. Tragically, the driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. … We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the driver during this difficult time.”
Additionally, a 26-year-old passenger, who is a resident of Toole, suffered serious injuries and was transported by AirMed to a local hospital for treatment.
“This incident remains under investigation by the Weber Metro CRASH Unit,” the release said. “No further information is available at this time. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.”
The Weber County Sheriff’s Office and Weber Fire District responded to the accident.
