Ogden City Council to interview applicants, appoint new council member July 21

The seat is being vacated by Shaun Myers, who is leaving to be a member of the presidency of the Ogden temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ogden City Council Communications Director Brandon Garside confirmed to the Standard-Examiner on Wednesday.
According to Thursday’s announcement, those interested in applying must be registered voters who have resided in Ogden City for at least one year.
The application window runs from Monday through 5 p.m. July 15, and according to the announcement, those interested must submit the required information to the Ogden City recorder in person.
Required information includes a resume, a letter of interest, a conflict-of-interest disclosure form and a campaign finance form.
Required documents and information can be found at OgdenCity.gov/Vacancy, according to the announcement.
The Ogden City recorder’s office is on the second floor of the Municipal Building, located at 2549 Washington Blvd.
The announcement states that the City Council will vote to make the appointment during the July 21 meeting and the appointed council member will take office on Aug. 1. Myers’ resignation takes effect July 31 and the appointed council member will serve until January 2028.
“Serving the residents of Ogden has been a tremendous honor and privilege,” Myers said in his letter of resignation, according to Thursday’s announcement. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside my fellow Council Members, the Mayor, the City Council professional staff and the many dedicated employees of Ogden City. Together, we have addressed important issues, celebrated meaningful successes, and worked to make our community an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
