Susan LeeDavis County Commission Seat B candidate Susan Lee spoke during the public comment portion of Tuesday’s Davis County Commission meeting and refuted a claim that she planned to cut 25% of the county’s employees.
“I just want to take a moment to speak directly to the employees of Davis County once again,” she said.
“It was stated that I plan to cut 25% of the county’s employees. This claim has also been repeated on social media and other online platforms. I want you to hear this directly from me. That is not true. I understand that statements like these can create uncertainty and concern for you and your families. That is why I believe it’s important to communicate honestly and directly. I value our employees. I respect the work you do every day on behalf of the residents of Davis County. Our employees are the backbone of the county government, and the service our citizens rely on happen because of your professionalism, dedication and commitment to public service.
“My commitment is to lead with integrity, transparency and respect. I will listen to employees, support a positive workplace and make thoughtful decisions that are in the best interest of both our workforce and taxpayers we serve.
“Please don’t judge my intentions by rumors or repeated claims. Judge me by my words, my actions and my record. I deeply appreciate the work you do, and I look forward to working together to continue providing outstanding service to the people of Davis County. Thank you.”
Lee defeated two-term incumbent Lorene Kamalu in the Republican primary and now faces unaffiliated candidate and former three-term Davis County Commissioner Bret Millburn in the general election.
