OGDEN – Lace ’em up and go again.

The O-Sho Trail Series returns for Part II on Thursday for a 6:15 p.m. start at the 27th Street Trailhead.

The three-part 5K series benefits the upkeep and exposure of Ogden’s revitalized trailsystem, the multiuse Bonneville Shoreline Trail, named for the prehistoric shoreline of the ice-age Lake Bonneville, which covered much of present-day western Utah thousands of years ago.

The 27th Street Trailhead, in particular, officially opened on Christmas Eve of last year after years of unofficial community usage. It’s the newest trailhead to open in several years, Aric Manning, the executive director of the Trails Foundation of Northern Utah, told the Standard-Examiner on Monday.

“It’s about getting people out and just seeing people using the trails,” Manning said of the three-part O-Sho Trail Series.

Ahead of Thursday’s race, the foundation is hosting a “Pints on the Patio” fundraiser at the Ogden Brewing Company, where trailheads may gather as a community and take home a commemorative pint glass. The pre-race event is slated for 5:30 p.m.

The foundation, too, is slated to celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday at the downtown Ogden Farmer’s Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Historic 25th Street.

The third and final race of the O-Sho Series is scheduled for Sept. 17.
