Cold War veterans and members of the Golden Vets group salute during a pinning ceremony by the Utah Cold War Veterans Foundation at the Golden Hours Senior Recreation Center on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021. Ten veterans were awarded the Utah Cold War Victory Medal during the ceremony.

OGDEN — Members of the Golden Hours Senior Center are welcoming the greater Ogden community to participate in a rummage sale in front of the facility, located at 650 25th St., next Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The city-run senior center is home to the Golden Veterans group, which is trying to build a veterans memorial. Steve Ross, the group’s only Gulf War veteran, said the monument will be placed in front the building as a tribute to all veterans.

All proceeds from the rummage sale will go to toward the memorial.

Members of the veterans group and Golden Hours manager Ginger Myers worked collaboratively to design the memorial, which Ross hinted is in the shape of Utah.

Ross said donations for the rummage sale are being accepted at the center through Wednesday.
