Letters: Utah congressmen should meet more with constituents
Looks like the Congressional District 1 Senate and House members (Curtis and Moore) won’t be having any Town Halls during the April Recess (April 12-27). I emailed both the first of this month to inquire. Curtis responded with an obvious boiler-plate response extolling his past townhalls but not committing to any during this recess. Moore replied that he’d be having a Tele-Townhall April 29, after he’s safely back in D.C. Understandable that they should be leary of facing their constituents after blatantly capitulating to the chaos that is the current administration. I haven’t seen any announcement from the other District’s representatives either. Cowards all.

Concerns about tax plan
The Republican Tax plan hurts families and our economy: 70 percent of the benefits from it will go to the richest households “never trickle down” to broader e economic gains. An overwhelming majority of Americans oppose cuts to critical programs like Social security, SSI, Medicare, Medicare, food assistance, and K – 12 education. That opposition extends across party lines with over 60 percent of Trump voters opposing cuts to all those programs. The man I helped for 22 years, who was like a brother to me, would have died much sooner as a hungry, sick, homeless person without help from SNAP, Medicade, and SSI. He had diabetes, heart problems, cancer, and was bi poler which made it hard for him to keep a job. The programs being cut make people with problems like he had able to live almost normal lives. Please don’t cut them!
