I would point out, however, that some of those things have already been done. Primary Children’s Medical Center has a satellite Hospital in Lehi. In the past, they have sponsored satellite clinics for pediatric sub-specialists at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, the IHC hospital in Riverton, the IHC hospital on Layton Parkway in Davis County, and I suspect other locations around the state, including Logan and St. George. I have been retired for several years, but I believe that many if not most of those specialty clinics are still in operation. There still a continuing me need, but efforts are being made to get specially pediatric care closer to those who need it. I suspect that it is ongoing. It is definitely needed, as Andrea Harper mentioned in her article.

Sometimes talking with your specialty care doctor at Primary Children’s and asking them if they ever send sub specialists from their specific group to a satellite location near the patient’s home may help a person find out that there is at least follow up care closer to their home.
