HARRISVILLE — Fire destroyed a bar and grill early Thursday and authorities had to close U.S. 89 temporarily as crews put out the blaze.

Someone driving by the business at 4:45 a.m. saw smoke and called 911, North View Fire District Deputy Chief Jeremiah Jones said.

“We sent crews in briefly to try to get a knockdown, but it was too hot,” Jones said. Firefighters retreated and fought the fire from outside, he said.

The business’s Facebook page identified it as the Triple Peak Sports Grill, formerly known as Sargent’s Ranch Inn.

Jones said the building was a total loss and the fire’s cause was not known. “We haven’t been able to get inside and get a good look,” he said.

He said the fire appeared to have started in the eaves and spread through the building’s attic. No one was injured and firefighters were able to protect neighboring buildings.

By midday, U.S. 89 was open again except for one northbound lane. “We closed both sides just for safety,” he said. “Visibility was pretty terrible and crews were right on the side of the road.”

He said Ogden, Roy and Weber firefighters helped put out the fire. Crews were monitoring hot spots Thursday afternoon.
