A man identified as "Hunter Fox," 26, was named in an Amber Alert on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022. Fox was suspected of kidnapping a 13-year-old Layton boy. The man was arrested Dec. 28 in Grand Island Nebraska and the boy was returned to his parents. The FBI says "Hunter Fox" was a social media persona. The man's real name is Tadashi Kura Kojima.

LAYTON — Police issued an Amber alert Tuesday afternoon for a 13-year-old Layton boy apparently kidnapped by a man Monday night.

The alert said the teenager, Evan McConney, left his home to meet the suspect, 25-year-old Hunter Fox, late Monday. They may be en route to Arizona or Texas, the alert said.

Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman said the boy’s parents recently reported that they became aware of concerning communications between their son and the man. The parents took away the boy’s devices and police had issued subpoenas in an effort to identify the suspect.

“Last night (the boy) was able to use another device and arranged to leave and meet up with this guy,” Lyman said. “It looks like they met and have gone somewhere.”

“The fact that he is only 13 and left with the suspect makes it a kidnapping and he definitely may be in physical danger,” he added.

The teen was described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall, 110 pounds, wearing a black, hooded windbreaker, gray sweatpants and Vans shoes.

Anyone with information about the teen and Fox is urged to call Layton police at 801-497-8300 or 911.
