A semitruck was gutted and the driver was injured in a fire on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, the 3200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Ogden.

OGDEN — A fire in a semitruck on Friday injured the driver and gutted the vehicle, the Ogden Fire Department said.

“Someone driving by saw smoke and called 911,” Deputy Fire Chief Mike Slater said of the fire, reported at 1:12 a.m. in the 3200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Slater said the driver was out of the truck by the time firefighters arrived. The driver was taken to a hospital, but Slater declined to provide further details, citing medical privacy laws.

Firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the engine compartment and the sleeper cab, a fire department news release said. Crews put out the blaze within 15 minutes.

Slater said the city fire marshal and the truck owner’s insurance representatives were investigating the cause of the fire. He said damage was estimated at $80,000.
