OGDEN — Police said Wednesday they have no suspects in a hit-and-run crash that injured an Ogden school crossing guard Tuesday.

The guard was setting up at 6:55 a.m. for the morning school crossings at Harrop Street and Monroe Boulevard when she was hit by a southbound vehicle.

“We have nothing — no leads, no info,” said Lt. Cameron Stiver, head of the Ogden Police Department’s special events bureau, which oversees traffic enforcement. “We’re still hoping to get something from somebody.”

The guard, who was unable to tell police anything about the vehicle that hit her, remained hospitalized in stable condition on Wednesday, Stiver said.

The crossing serves students of Highland Junior High and Bonneville Elementary schools, Stiver said. He said crossing guards at school crossings in Ogden are employees of the city, not the Ogden School District.

Police urged people with any information about the hit-and-run crash to call the police traffic bureau at 801-629-8285.

Tuesday’s incident was the worst involving an Ogden crossing guard since 2005, when a guard was struck and killed at a Harrison Boulevard crosswalk near Mount Ogden Junior High, Stiver said.

Stiver said he wasn’t aware of any close calls for Ogden crossing guards in recent years, “but there are probably a lot if you talk to the crossing guards themselves.”
