OGDEN — A Hooper woman is charged with felony discharge of a firearm for allegedly shooting her boyfriend outside her home Halloween night.

Leeann Comish, 40, reported to emergency dispatchers after the incident that she had shot the man and Weber County Sheriff’s Office deputies subsequently arrived on the scene and arrested her, according to an affidavit in the case. At the time, she was walking away from the home, located in the 6200 block of 5700 South.

The 43-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the affidavit, and the Weber County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against Comish on Thursday. Aside from felony discharge of a gun, she faces charges of possession or use of a firearm by a restricted person and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, among others.

The victim’s mother saw her son and Comish go to the backyard of the home just before the alleged shooting.

“The mother was then later woken up by a big explosion,” reads the affidavit. “She then heard her son pounding on the back door.”

Comish is being held without bail in the Weber County Jail.
