OGDEN — Police are investigating what they’ve dubbed a homicide after a 48-year-old woman died following a “physical altercation” Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Ogden Police Department, officers were called around 1:09 p.m. to a reported disturbance in the 1400 block of Washington Boulevard. There, they discovered the woman, who reportedly bore “critical injuries consistent with a knife assault.”

The release states that officers rendered life-saving efforts to the woman until medical responders arrived at the scene and she was taken to the hospital, but she died from the injuries.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the woman was the same person who initially called police.

A 25-year-old man was detained at the scene, though his name was not provided. The release did not say whether the man has been arrested.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
