SYRACUSE — After a 2-2 deadlock in regulation and two periods of extra time, No. 4 Syracuse High boys soccer outshot No. 13 Hunter 5-4 on penalty kicks to earn the Titans’ first playoff win in program history on Tuesday night.

Ryker Smith and Jack Cook netted in the second half for Syracuse (13-3). Devin Bailey and Ryken Hamblin tallied assists.

The Titans will face Region 1 rival and No. 5 Davis Thursday in the quarterfinals.

FARMINGTON 2, RIVERTON 1

FARMINGTON — Luke Smith and Owen Nichols each scored in the first half as No. 6 Farmington downed No. 11 Riverton (9-9) in the 6A second round.

Chase Ashby and Chandler Gun assisted for Farmington (12-5), who will face the No. 3 Bingham/No. 14 Copper Hills winner on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

WEST JORDAN — St. Joseph placed eighth with a score of 496 in the 2A state tournament at Mountain View Golf Course.

Lizzie Randall tied for 21st place with a 111 to lead Saint Joseph. Halen Moon placed 36th with a 125 and Addison Ocana shot 127 to tie for 38th place.
