Prep basketball roundup: Fremont boys, girls claim wins; Ogden girls rout Tooele

SOUTH JORDAN — Hunter Hansen racked up 29 points, his team shot 21 of 25 from the foul line and Fremont High boys basketball outscored Bingham 43-24 in the second half Tuesday night on the way to a 73-53 road victory.

Hansen knocked down three 3s for Fremont (1-1). Christian Blanch scored 10 points and Ryker Saunders added eight. Braden Flinders and David Calvert each scored six points.

UTAH MILITARY 52, USDB 20

RIVERDALE — Caden Scheller scored 14 points to lead Utah Military to a home win over the Utah School for the Deaf & Blind.

Jacob Shetter and Anders Pond each scored eight points for Utah Military (2-1).

RSL ACADEMY 75, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 73

LAYTON — Layton Christian trailed 37-25 at the break, and the Eagles’ second-half comeback bid came up just short in a home loss to Real Salt Lake Academy on Monday.

Souleymane Barro led Layton Christian (1-1) with 18 points. Tyrese Lacey scored 15, Timmie Olubisi added 12 and Otavio Armani totaled 11 points.

PLAIN CITY — Fremont trailed 38-37 after three quarters but outscored Skyridge 22-15 in the final frame for a home win.

Aly Coombs scored a game-high 17 points for Fremont (1-1). Sierra Eddie added 13 points with four 3-pointers. Saydee Heslop added nine points.

OGDEN 63, TOOELE 19

OGDEN — Ogden ran out to a 21-2 lead after one quarter and led 61-15 going into the final frame in a big win over Tooele.

Ashley Christensen led Ogden (2-0) with 25 points. Zoey Franklin scored 13 while Mariah McDonald and Macy Vine each added six points.

DAVIS 46, MTN CREST 26

KAYSVILLE — Davis took a 24-9 lead at the half in a home win over Mountain Crest.

Chloe Peery led all scorers with 15 points and two 3-pointers for Davis (1-0). Kendra Kitchen scored 14 points and Kate Richards added 11 points with three treys.

FARMINGTON 66, NORTHRIDGE 36

FARMINGTON — Farmington led 27-15 at the half and outscored Northridge 22-8 in the fourth quarter for a home win.

Whitney Avei led all scorers with 14 points for Farmington (2-0). Marissa Marchant added 12 points and Victoria Clinger scored eight, each making two 3-pointers.

Kaylee Hess led Northridge (0-2) with 13 points and three 3-pointers. Madison Hosino and Sarah Mower each scored five points.

COPPER HILLS 49, LAYTON 39

WEST JORDAN — Layton trailed 24-21 at the half and was outscored 14-7 in a pivotal third quarter in a loss at Copper Hills.

Kate Strong led Layton (0-2) with 10 points. Avery Potter hit two 3-pointers on her way to eight points.

WOODS CROSS 47, CLEARFIELD 33

WOODS CROSS — Izzy Wyaskett scored 15 points and Brighton Bernards added six points for Clearfield as the Falcons (1-1) fell at Woods Cross (2-0).

WASATCH 50, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 44

LAYTON — Ruzgar Boyle scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds but Layton Christian lost at home to Wasatch.

Mariana Cubero added 12 points for LCA (2-1). Bianca Silva totaled nine points, four rebounds, six assists and five steals.
