Prep basketball roundup: Fremont boys, girls teams win big – full Saturday results and stats

KAYSVILLE — Fremont High boys basketball used supreme ball control to lead from start to finish, reaching 6-1 on the season with a 51-40 win over Woods Cross in the 6A-5A Challenge at Davis High School on Saturday.

Fremont committed one turnover in the contest and led 18-9 after one quarter. Hunter Hansen led the Silverwolves with 19 points. Easton Duft had 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Ryker Saunders pitched in 10 points. Zach Masters added 8 points and seven rebounds.

WEBER 71, VIEWMONT 68

KAYSVILLE — Weber led 51-42 after three quarters and held off a Viewmont charge to reach 5-1 overall with a win to conclude its run at the 6A-5A challenge at Davis High School.

Hunter Schenck poured in 29 points, shooting 4 of 7 from downtown, while adding seven rebounds for Weber. Malachi Spencer added 17 points and seven rebounds. Will Stratford totaled 6 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Max Draper scored 22 points for Viewmont (1-5).

SYRACUSE 65, BOX ELDER 46

KAYSVILLE — Five Syracuse players scored in double digits, helping the Titans overcome an early deficit and cruise to victory at the 6A-5A Challenge.

Jake Hopkins hit three 3-pointers to lead Syracuse (4-2) with 13 points. Brad Trejo scored 12 points. Joshua Godfrey totaled 10 points and nine rebounds, Logan Goddard contributed 10 points and four assists, and Skyler Orton had 10 points. The Titans shot 25 of 51 as a team.

Box Elder (0-6) got 20 points from Trevor Wilkinson, who made three 3-pointers. Max Isaacson totaled 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Elijah Kersey dished six assists.

OLYMPUS 61, DAVIS 50

KAYSVILLE — Davis finished hosting the 6A-5A Challenge with a wire-to-wire loss to Olympus.

Coleman Atwater scored 14 points to lead Davis (4-3), adding four rebounds. Caleb Taylor totaled 11 points and four rebounds, and Easton Ralphs pitched in 11 points.

Atwater and Taylor combined to shoot 7 of 12 from the 3-point line but Davis couldn’t overcome Olympus’ 11-0 advantage at the free-throw line and an 11-5 deficit in the turnover battle.

BEAR RIVER 66, PINE VIEW 53

SMITHFIELD — Bear River wrapped up a 3-0 weekend at the Sky View tournament on Saturday. Kyver Jensen scored 18 points, Gherig Marble scored 13 and Brayden Riter had 11 for the Bears (7-1).

FREMONT 46, JORDAN 22

SANDY — Fremont led 29-4 at halftime, and 17-0 after the first quarter, in a win over Jordan in the Beetdigger Classic on Saturday.

Ama Herrick, Lily Hall and Abby Christensen each scored 8 points for Fremont (3-3) for its third straight win.

WEBER 57, LOGAN 16

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Abby Sayer scored 17 points to lead Weber in the Burchell Classic on Saturday. Logyn Howell added 11 points for Weber (2-4), which made 10 3-pointers as a team. Nine different players scored for the Warriors.

BONNEVILLE 45, BEN LOMOND 33

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Whitni Johnson led all scorers with 20 points and five 3-pointers to lead Bonneville (4-2) to a win in the Burchell Classic on Saturday.

Dory Jenson scored 12 points for Ben Lomond (3-4) and Jazzy Tinajero added 11. The Lakers outscored the Scots 8-0 in the fourth quarter.

NORTHRIDGE 50, PARK CITY 37

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Karlee Mayfield scored 13 points and Kaylee Hess 10 had in a Saturday win for Northridge (4-1) in the Burchell Classic.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 51, OGDEN 25

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Sofia Saez scored 14 points as Layton Christian wrapped up the Burchell Classic with a win on Saturday. Asmin Tanhan added 11 points for Layton Christian (3-4).

Lauretta Taylor scored 9 points for Ogden (2-4) off the bench.
