Prep roundup: Northridge boys basketball gets 1st win of the season

SALT LAKE CITY — Bentley Whitear scored 32 points to lead Northridge High boys basketball to a 65-57 win at Judge Memorial on Tuesday night, the Knights’ first win of the season.

De’Qoune Kennedy scored 12 points for Northridge (1-6). The Knights outscored Judge Memorial 30-21 in the second half.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 78, SPRINGVILLE 45

LAYTON — Tyrin Jones led all scorers with 23 points in a key non-region win.

Allan Gballou added 14 points for Layton Christian (4-2), which had 10 different players score.

LAYTON 71, WEST JORDAN 67

LAYTON — Layton trailed by as much as eight points in the fourth quarter before a furious comeback gave the Lancers a home win.

Oakley Homer led Layton (2-5) with 21 points and four 3-pointers. Ebony Davis, Ashlynn Purcell and Roxy Casper each added 11 points.

OGDEN 42, ST. JOSEPH 20

OGDEN — Ogden outscored St. Joseph 23-6 in the second half in a home win.

Ruth Larsen led all scorers with 14 points for Ogden (3-4). Tamara Jimenez scored eight points and Salote Tonga added seven points and two 3-pointers.

Katelyn Martinez led St. Joseph (0-4) with seven points and Eliza Berg scored six.

CLEARFIELD 57, BEN LOMOND 27

OGDEN — Clearfield ran out to a 29-9 halftime lead in a win at Ben Lomond

Ciara De La O led Clearfield (5-0) with 14 points and two 3-pointers. Xiyah Yarbrough scored nine points and Amber Dankwa added eight.

Dory Jenson paced Ben Lomond (3-5) with 14 points and Aliyah Gomez hit two treys for six points.

DAVIS 53, CYPRUS 19

KAYSVILLE — Davis held Cyprus scoreless in the first quarter and led 29-8 at the half to stay undefeated.

Kate Richards led all scorers with 13 points and three 3-pointers for Davis (6-0). Kate Willard scored nine points and Kendra Kitchen added eight.

SYRACUSE 68, DIXIE 47

SYRACUSE — Avery Sanders led all scorers with 29 points and two 3-pointers as Syracuse bested Dixie.

Maylee Anderson added 17 points and three treys for Syracuse (6-1). Olivia Sorenson scored eight points.

VIEWMONT 69, WEBER 40

PLEASANT VIEW — Rylee Jugler led Weber with 11 points as the Warriors fell at home to Viewmont (4-3).

Sunee Shaw and Logyn Howell each scored eight points for Weber (3-5).
