A little more than a week after losing 7-2 against Grantsville on its home field, and thereby losing out on a possible shared Region 13 title, Ogden High’s baseball team will get another crack at the Cowboys.

The 3A state high school baseball playoff brackets were unveiled Wednesday morning and the Tigers (16-5) are the No. 7 seed, taking on No. 10 Grantsville at 11 a.m. Saturday in a first-round playoff game at a “pod” site.

The “pod” location is Carbon High in Price, as the Dinos are the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

Ogden lost two of three games against Grantsville this season, yet ended up the higher seed in the state tournament because the Cowboys have a 16-7 record and Ogden is 16-5.

Morgan High could potentially join the Carbon pod. The Trojans (8-14) are the No. 15 seed and will host No. 18 North Sanpete in a play-in game at 3 p.m. Friday, with the winner going to Price to face No. 2 Carbon at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Trojans have won seven straight games entering the playoffs.

Ben Lomond (1-14) is the No. 20 seed in the 3A playoffs. The Scots head to No. 13 American Leadership Academy on Friday for a play-in game at 3 p.m. The winner will play at No. 4 Manti at 10 a.m. Saturday. Ben Lomond’s only win came on March 18 against North Summit.

3A SOFTBALL

The 3A softball bracket has a similar Region 13 rematch on it. Ogden (5-6), the No. 10 seed, will face No. 7 Morgan in a game at Canyon View High (Cedar City) at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The loser will immediately play an elimination game against the loser of Canyon View-Juab/Judge Memorial. The winner will play again Thursday, May 11, at 12:15 p.m. at the Spanish Fork Softball Complex.

Morgan (10-9) beat Ogden 19-0 and 14-4 in their two region meetings this season.

Ben Lomond (6-12) is the No. 16 seed and will face No. 17 Delta in an elimination play-in game at 10 a.m. Saturday in Grantsville. The winner faces No. 1 Grantsville immediately after.
