Prep basketball roundup: Layton boys get past Timpview in double overtime

DRAPER — Layton High boys basketball outscored Timpview 8-0 in the second overtime for a 71-63 win Thursday afternoon at the Corner Canyon Tournament of Champions.

Mekhi Martin led Layton (3-0) with 18 points and three 3-pointers. KJ Miller and Sam Romer each added 13 points, with Miller hitting four treys.

FARMINGTON 60, BONNEVILLE 43

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Paul Beattie scored 27 points with two 3-pointers to lead Farmington a double-digit road win.

Jayden Haskell added 19 points for Farmington (2-0) with three 3s as the Phoenix led by seven points at halftime and by 12 after three quarters.

Ben Tesch led Bonneville (2-2) with 15 points, hitting three 3s, and Zac Combe scored 12.

APA-WV 54, BEN LOMOND 44

GARLAND — Ben Lomond trailed 16-6 after one quarter in a loss to American Preparatory Academy-West Valley at the Bear River Winter Classic.

Jonathan Alcaraz led all scorers with 21 points and three 3-pointers for Ben Lomond (0-3). Jordan Harrison added nine points.

OGDEN 55, WATERFORD 25

OGDEN — Ogden led 30-16 at the half and held Waterford to nine second-half points in a home win Tuesday.

Stockton Marriott and Bingham Call sharted leading scorer honors with 14 points apiece for Ogden (3-0). Teegan Porter added 12 points and two 3-pointers.

SKY VIEW 61, BOX ELDER 57

BRIGHAM CITY — Elijah Kersey poured in 31 points with five 3-pointers but Box Elder lost at home to Sky View on Wednesday.

Max Isaacson added 14 points for Box Elder (0-2).

SYRACUSE — Avery Sanders scored 23 points as Syracuse beat Corner Canyon at home Wednesday.

Cortnie Barker added 20 points with two 3-pointers for Syracuse (2-0). Maylee Anderson tallied 13 points and three treys.

DAVIS 64, RIVERTON 37

KAYSVILLE — Kendra Kitchen led all scorers with 23 points as Davis beat Riverton at home.

T’Maea Eteuati scored 16 points with four 3-pointers for Davis (3-0). Shea Miller added eight points.

COPPER HILLS 65, LAYTON 35

LAYTON — Layton fell behind 23-7 after one quarter and could not recover in a home loss to Copper Hills.

Oakley Homer led Layton (0-4) with 12 points and two 3-pointers. Ebony Davis, Avery Porter and Roxy Casper each scored five points.

BRIGHTON 51, LAYTON 38

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — Layton trailed 30-10 at the half in a loss at Brighton on Wednesday.

Lindsey Thurgood led Layton (0-3) with eight points. Roxy Casper tallied five points while Avery Porter and Conley Santizo each added four.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 37, BEAR RIVER 30

LAYTON — Layton Christian took control with a 12-6 second quarter for a home win Tuesday.

Jessica McKain paced Layton Christian (1-2) with eight points. Lara Nunes tallied seven points while Willow Clarke, Sofia Saez and Ava Smith each added six.

Aubree Fry led all scorers with nine points and two 3-pointers for Bear River (0-1). Shelby Wilkinson, Angelie Delgado and Saydee Pebley each added five points.
