PLEASANT VIEW — Alex Johnson netted the game-winner in the second half to lead Weber past Layton.

OGDEN — Davis totaled 22 hits and drew 11 walks, and led 21-2 after two innings, to take the rubber match of a region series with Layton in a five-inning game played Thursday night at Lindquist Field.

Owen Talbot, Carter Garrett and Jaxon Marble each totaled three hits and drove in four runs for Davis (14-5, 6-3 Region 1). Talbot tripled and doubled, while Garrett doubled and scored four runs. Kaleb Weaver (three innings) and Sam Sevy (two) both struck out five batters while allowing two runs on three hits.

Emilio Cedeno led Layton (10-8, 3-6) with a two-RBI triple. Ethan Clark hit 2 for 2 with an RBI.

OGDEN — Syracuse (15-6) finished Tiger Trials pool play 3-0 with a 25-15, 25-12 win over Clearfield.

Davis Caldwell and Chase Barrett each had seven kills for the Titans. Barrett added seven digs and two aces.

OGDEN — Syracuse swept Utah Military (8-5) by scores of 25-12, 25-12.

Joshua Godfrey had six kills and four for Syracuse. Chase Barrett added six kills. Branson Hamblin tallied seven digs and Caleb Roskelley dished out 18 kills.
