Prep roundup: St. Joseph wins in soccer, volleyball; girls soccer playoffs begin

DRAPER — St. Joseph High girls soccer scored six goals in the first half in a 9-1 win Thursday at American Preparatory Academy-Draper.
Sofia Evans tallied four goals and an assist for St. Joseph (8-6, 4-2 Region 17). Abigail Gough added three scores and an assist. Alexsen Willardson netted a brace. Jaci Coles had two assists while Brooke Majewski and Ashley Fergus each had one assist.

OGDEN — St. Joseph swept Maeser Prep by set scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-10.
Laura Skerkoski led St. Joseph (19-3, 8-2 Region 17) with 14 kills, six digs and three aces. Lizzie Randall added 20 assists, eight kills, five digs and two aces. Macie Lane tallied seven digs and six aces.
CLEARFIELD 3, ROY 2
ROY — Clearfield (11-13, 3-8 Region 5) won at Roy in a five-set match. Set scores were 26-24, 20-25, 14-25, 25-17, 15-6.
Brinlee Nebeker had three aces, one kill, one assist, and 52 digs for Roy (2-12, 0-11).
SYRACUSE at 5A/6A Challenge
OREM — Syracuse dropped two games at the 5A/6A Challenge hosted by Mountain View High.
In the first contest, Syracuse was swept by Park City. Set scores were 25-15, 25-19, 25-20. Kallie Johansen led with eight kills, two blocks and three aces. Karlie Hamblin had 11 digs and Brilyn Jensen tallied 23 assists.
In the second game, the Titans fell to Mountain View in straight sets. Scores were 25-12, 25-20, 25-15. Kallie Johansen had five kills and an ace. Brilyn Jensen added two blocks and 14 assists. Karlie Hamblin tallied eight digs.

2A STATE TOURNAMENT
SALT LAKE CITY — St. Joseph Catholic junior Gavin Wolf shot a 24-over-par 168 to finish tied for 36th place at the 2A boys golf state tournament at Glendale Golf Course. The Jayhawks finished 11th as a team. Rowland Hall beat Beaver by two shots for the team title, ending Beaver’s six-year state-title streak.
