Prep roundup: Fremont softball rallies to walk-off win over Davis

PLAIN CITY — Fremont High softball scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game and plated one in the seventh for a 7-6, walk-off win Thursday over Davis.

Kacie Howard batted 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs for Fremont (3-3, 1-1 Region 1). Savannah Palmatier went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Ayzlee Sessions got the win by striking out nine and allowing zero runs on three hits over seven innings. Two other pitchers allowed the six Davis runs without recording an out.

Rayleigh Starnes and Hadlee Isaacs each batted 2 for 4 for Davis (8-3, 1-1 Region 1) Starnes had two RBIs.

WEBER 16, FARMINGTON 7

PLEASANT VIEW — Moira Tinsley batted 3 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs to lead Weber over Farmington

Hailey Merrill was 3 for 5 with a triple, a double and three RBIs for Weber (5-6, 2-0 Region 1). Ellie Nielsen drove in two. Isabella Bird allowed zero hits and one earned run in 4 2/3 innings.

Ella Nielson drove in three runs for Farmington (5-5, 1-1). Madison Kelker and Lexi Crowley each doubled.

BOX ELDER 11, WOODS CROSS 1

BRIGHAM CITY — Paige Baker batted 2 for 3 with a solo home run as Box Elder downed Woods Cross (0-7, 0-6 Region 5) in five innings.

Lucy Braegger earned the win with 11 strikeouts while allowing three hits in a complete game for Box Elder (11-3, 3-2 Region 5). Zoey Trinnaman batted 2 for 2. Brooke Richards and Alexis Hales each hit a double and Richards drove in two.

SYRACUSE 14, LAYTON 2

SYRACUSE — Liv Harker batted 3 for 4 with a home run as Syracuse (6-4, 1-1 Region 1) beat Layton (2-8, 0-2).

VIEWMONT 11, CLEARFIELD 10 (8)

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield scored one run in the bottom of the eighth inning but left the potential tying run on base in a home loss to Viewmont (5-5, 3-2 Region 5).

Aly Ridge batted 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs for Clearfield (5-8, 2-3). Brynn Nicholls had two hits and two RBIs. Addyson Haddock and Elizabeth Salazar each had two hits and drove in one.

KAMAS — Ryder Waldron pitched a complete-game shutout and hit 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs as Morgan blanked South Summit in five innings.

Benjamin Harden hit two triples and drove in one for Morgan (10-7, 6-2 Region 13). Luke Bauerle went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Beck Sheffield hit two singles and drove in one.

DAVIS 4, SYRACUSE 2 (9)

SYRACUSE — Syracuse answered a Davis run in the seventh with one of its own to force extra innings, but Davis plated two runs in the ninth for an extra-innings win Wednesday to even the three-game region series at 1-1.

Owen Talbot hit 2 for 3 with two RBIs in the leadoff spot for Davis (9-3, 1-1 Region 1). Carter Garrett doubled and drove in one run.

Austin Burton hit 2 for 4 and scored two runs for Syracuse (4-6-1, 1-1). Broc Hopkins tallied the Titans’ lone RBI as four Davis pitchers struck out 13 and allowed one earned run.

SPANISH FORK — Brock Smith had a goal and an assist as St. Joseph blanked American Leadership.

Matheus De Assiz Vieira kept the clean sheet for St. Joseph (6-3, 4-0 Region 17). Sebastian Fiederer also netted for the Jayhawks, who led 2-0 at the half.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 6, PARK CITY 0

LAYTON — Miguel Kwiatkowski kept a clean sheet and Layton Christian led 6-0 at the half in a win over Park City late Wednesday.

Mickael Duailibi had two goals and one assist for Layton Christian (7-0, 3-0 Region 10). Joaquim Diniz netted twice. Rafael Furlani and Luiz Pereira each scored one goal.

SYRACUSE — Syracuse bested Layton in straight sets: 25-9, 25-16, 25-12.

Davis Caldwell led Syracuse (8-6, 3-0 Region 1) with 15 kills. Breggan Prince added seven kills and Josh Godfrey had six. Branson Hamblin served three aces. Caleb Roskelley had 10 digs and 36 assists.

Layton (0-8, 0-3) did not report stats.

ROY 3, NORTHRIDGE 1

LAYTON — Roy defeated Northridge 27-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-15 in a region match.

Dahlen Pontius totaled 17 kills and two blocks for Roy (5-11, 2-5 Region 5). Kael Miller had 14 kills and 17 digs, while Will Coburn added 25 assists and four aces.

Northridge (1-6, 1-6) did not report stats.

BOX ELDER 3, BONNEVILLE 1

BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder beat Bonneville 25-15, 25-20, 24,26, 25-18.

Brant Blacker tallied 17 kills for Box Elder (5-5, 3-3 Region 5). Carter Buchanan had four blocks and Orion Fifield served four aces.

Bonneville (3-12, 1-5 Region 5) did not report stats.

GRANTSVILLE 3, OGDEN 1

OGDEN — Ogden fell at home to Grantsville 21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23.

Keen Crowther paced Ogden (6-9, 0-2 Region 13) with 14 kills, eight digs and four aces. Case Crowther had three blocks, six digs and one ace. Aiden Holbrook added six kills, 10 digs, and three aces
