Prep basketball roundup: Kitchen scores 31, leading Davis girls over Fremont 45-28

PLAIN CITY — Kendra Kitchen scored 31 points with three 3-pointers to lead Davis High girls basketball to a 45-28, region-opening win Friday night at Fremont.

T’Maea Eteuati added 12 points for Davis (12-0, 1-0 Region 1) and Kate Willard scored the other two Dart points.

Abby Christensen led Fremont (7-7, 0-1 Region 1) with 14 points and two 3-pointers. Syncere Langston added six points.

SYRACUSE 59, LAYTON 23

SYRACUSE — Syracuse ran out to a 17-0, first-quarter lead in a region win over Layton.

Cortnie Barker Syracuse (10-3, 1-0 Region 1) led all scorers with 16 points and two 3-pointers. Avery Sanders tallied 14 points.

Oakley Homer led Layton (5-9, 0-1) with nine points on three 3-pointers. Avery Potter added seven points and two treys. The Lancers made six 3-pointers and one two-point basket.

WEBER 53, FARMINGTON 42

PLEASANT VIEW — Abby Sayer scored a game-high 21 points to lead Weber to a region-opening win over Farmington.

Rylee Jugler added nine points for Weber (6-8, 1-0 Region 1) and Avery Shupe scored six points on two 3-pointers.

Brynn Ryan and Morgan Rogers each scored 14 points Farmington (1-10, 0-1). Macy Fox hit two 3-pointers for six points.

CLEARFIELD 45, ROY 36

ROY — Roy outscored Clearfield 14-3 in the third quarter to cut the Falcon lead to 32-20, then Clearfield pulled away in the final frame for a region road win.

Ciara De La O led Clearfield (11-1, 4-0 Region 5) with 10 points on two 3-pointers. Izzy Wyaskett added nine points and five rebounds. Xiyah Yarbrough, Amber Dankwa and Destini Gomez each scored six points.

Analeise Maharaj led Roy (5-8, 1-3 Region 5) with nine points on three 3-pointers. Rihanna Jones added seven points. Nicole Williams tallied six points and 11 rebounds.

BOUNTIFUL 81, BONNEVILLE 27

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville trailed 53-13 at the half in a lopsided region loss to Bountiful (10-3, 4-0 Region 5).

Baylee Andreasen led Bonneville (4-8, 0-4) with eight points and two 3-pointers. Baya Jimenez and Tyler Moss each added six points.

SOUTH SUMMIT 42, OGDEN 34

OGDEN — Ogden was held to five points in the second quarter in a region loss to South Summit on Thursday.

Salote Tonga led Ogden (4-11, 0-2 Region 13) with 10 points. Ruth Larsen scored seven points and Izzy Nestel added six points on two 3-pointers.

UNION 47, BEN LOMOND 36

OGDEN — Ben Lomond trailed 23-20 at the half and could get no closer in a region loss to Union.

Jazzy Tinajero led Ben Lomond (6-8, 0-2 Region 13) with 16 points, two assists and seven steals. Anahi Flores hit two 3 pointers for six points. Dory Jenson hauled in four rebounds.

PLEASANT VIEW — Farmington led 53-48 after three quarters, then Weber forced overtime with a 17-12 fourth quarter and completed the comeback in extra time.

Malachi Spencer led Weber (11-3, 1-0 Region 1) with 22 points. Jordan Oberholtzer added 21 points with three 3-pointers. Hunter Schenck scored 16 points with three treys and Will Stratford tallied 10 points.

Ethan Atkinson led all scorers with 23 points and five 3-pointers for Farmington (9-4, 0-1 Region 1). Paul Beattie scored 17, Jayden Hackell tallied 15 and Braden Larsen added 11 points with three treys.

ROY 74, CLEARFIELD 64

ROY — Roy led 42-22 at halftime and cruised to a region home win.

Colby Frokjer totaled 19 points and five rebounds to lead Roy (7-6, 2-2 Region 5). Isaac Burnett tacked on 18 points on five 3-pointers, and Bronson Belnap added 12 points, six assists and three steals.

For Clearfield (4-9, 1-3), Peyton Kotter poured in 21 points on six 3-pointers. Trace Hansen added 12 points.

NORTHRIDGE 64, BOX ELDER 58

LAYTON — Box Elder led 34-29 at the half, then Northridge took control with a 20-12 third-quarter advantage in a region win.

Bentley Whitear led Northridge (4-9, 3-1 Region 5) with 23 points on five 3-pointers. Josh Kitchen tallied 13 points with two treys and Logan Britt scored nine points.

Elijah Kersey led all scorers with 32 points and four 3-pointers for Box Elder (4-9, 3-1). Max Isaacson added 12 points.

BEAR RIVER 68, SKY VIEW 55

GARLAND — Bear River outscored defending state champion Sky View 24-11 in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and open region play with a win.

Bridger Barfuss scored a game-high 26 points for Bear River (11-2, 1-0 Region 11).

MORGAN 67, GRANTSVILLE 48

GRANTSVILLE — Jake Hansen scored 22 points and Morgan (6-7, 1-0 Region 13) opened region play with a road win at Grantsville.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 86, UINTAH 48

LAYTON — Otavio Armani scored a game-high 16 points with two 3-pointers to lead Layton Christian to a region win over Uintah for the Eagles’ 12th straight victory.

Alan Gballou added 14 points for Layton Christian (15-2, 2-0 Region 8). Tyrin Jones scored eight points while Vuk Zarubica, Anor Wogar and Luka Kulundzic each scored seven points.

BOUNTIFUL 60, BONNEVILLE 41

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville fell behind 21-9 after one quarter in a region loss to Bountiful (8-4, 2-1 Region 5).

Nick Sebahar led Bonneville (6-6, 2-1 Region 5) with 21 points. Ben Tesch scored eight points while Davis DeGroot and Zac Combe each scored six points.
