The top 16 of the 18 teams in 6A make the playoffs. Layton (3-18) is one of the two teams that didn't make the field.
Bracket seeding is determined by an RPI formula that factors winning percentage and strength of schedule.
With a smaller classification, the 6A bracket features just one regional series round before the top eight teams enter two sides of a double-elimination bracket. Bracket play is May 21-22 at Valley Regional Softball Complex in Taylorsville.
The two teams left standing face off in a best-of-three championship series May 23-24 at BYU.
Riverton (20-4) is the No. 1 seed.
