Davis High's Katie Klaumann hits a pitch against Fremont on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in Kaysville.

Region 1 co-champions Davis and Fremont will each play first-round playoff series at home, and against fellow Region 1 teams, as the UHSAA released the 6A state tournament softball bracket Wednesday morning.

As the No. 5 seed, Davis (16-5) will host No. 12 Syracuse (9-10) in a best-of-three series. At No. 7, Fremont (10-5) will host rival and No. 10 seed Weber (10-11).

The series begin at 4 p.m. Thursday. Game 2s are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday and, if necessary, Game 3s will follow immediately after.

No. 13 Farmington (9-10) hits the road for a series at Pleasant Grove.

The top 16 of the 18 teams in 6A make the playoffs. Layton (3-18) is one of the two teams that didn’t make the field.

Bracket seeding is determined by an RPI formula that factors winning percentage and strength of schedule.

With a smaller classification, the 6A bracket features just one regional series round before the top eight teams enter two sides of a double-elimination bracket. Bracket play is May 21-22 at Valley Regional Softball Complex in Taylorsville.

The two teams left standing face off in a best-of-three championship series May 23-24 at BYU.

Riverton (20-4) is the No. 1 seed.

Below is the schedule for the 6A state softball tournament, with matchups listed for Northern Utah teams. The full bracket can be viewed online at www.uhsaa.org/tournaments.
