Prep playoff roundup: Davis boys lacrosse wins 6A semifinal match

SALT LAKE CITY — No. 3 Davis High boys lacrosse built an 11-6 lead and held off a charge from No. 2 Fremont in the late minutes to grab an 11-9 victory in the 6A state semifinals Wednesday at Westminster University.

Luke Donigan led Davis (15-3) with three goals. Dawson Draper and Rocky Edelman each tallied two goals

Carson Isaacson paced Fremont (16-5) with three goals. Owen Hill, Kenny Olsen and Kayden Berry each netted twice.

The Darts advance to the 6A championship against Corner Canyon at 2 p.m. Friday at Zions Bank Stadium.

CORNER CANYON 11, FARMINGTON 3

SALT LAKE CITY — No. 4 Farmington trailed 7-3 at the half in a 6A state semifinals loss to No. 1 Corner Canyon (16-2) at Westminster University.

Kai Beynon scored twice for Farmington and Charlie DeAnda netted once. The Phoenix end the year with a 14-5 record.

BASEBALL

MTN RIDGE 10, FREMONT 0

PROVO — No. 6 Fremont was held to four hits in a five-inning shutout loss to No. 3 Mountain Ridge (22-8) in a 6A elimination game at BYU.

Garet Jones hit a double for Fremont. Karston Jamison, Max Johnson and Grady Garrett each hit a single. The SIlverwolves end the year with a 19-11 record.

SALEM HILLS 15, BOX ELDER 5

OREM — Landen Golmon hit a triple and a double and drove in two but No. 14 Box Elder fell to No. 6 Salem Hills (19-10) in five innings at UVU and saw its upset run come to an end in the 5A state tournament.

Ashton Burton hit an RBI single for No. 14 Box Elder. The Bees finish the season with an 18-15 mark.
