Bonneville's Baya Jimenez, right, and Layton's Jamie Vowles, center, battle for a loose ball while Adisyn Stone, left, awaits a possible pass on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, in Washington Terrace. It’s true, numbers don’t tell the whole story. But they’re often an equally great tool for pointing out an overlooked player, or one on the cusp of a career or season mark, while the majority of heads face the other way.
In the case of the latest high school hoops season, Northern Utah’s girls squads have a handful of stat-studded stars that’ve set their respective teams up for potential runs as the new year arrives.
Jugler-ing multiple region highs
Weber High senior Rylee Jugler is hard at work.
The 6-foot power forward-center plays both spots with ease, and she currently leads Region 1 teams in nightly scoring (15.8) and rebounds (9.3) with two double-doubles.
Jugler, on the verge of 500 career points, received the Burchell Classic MVP Award, as voted by the tournament’s coaches, following her 25 points and 12 rebounds recorded vs. Bonneville and Bear River the weekend of Dec. 4-5 at Bonneville High School.
Anderson among state’s top producers
Syracuse senior Maylee Anderson has separated herself from the pack early as one of the state’s top scorers. Her 17.6 points per 32 minutes lead Region 1, ranks sixth in the state and 176th nationally.
Anderson has cracked 15 or more points five times already through eight appearances, including a double-double with a season-high 25 points and 10 rebounds vs. Morgan on Nov. 25.
Double-double machines
All five of Region 5’s double-doubles this season have been recorded by Northern Utah athletes:
• Ellie McArthur, Fremont (17 points, 10 rebounds, Dec. 9 vs. Westlake)
• Baya Jimenez, Bonneville (20 points, 10 rebounds, Dec. 2 vs. Skyline)
• Kenzie Bagby, West Field (15 points, 10 rebounds, Dec. 11 vs. Layton)
• McKenzee Jeffries, Box Elder (28 points, 15 rebounds, Dec. 4 vs. Green Valley)
• Brielle Yates, Box Elder (10 points, 11 rebounds, Dec. 19 vs. Kearns)
• Abby Christensen, Fremont (15 points, 10 rebounds, Nov. 25 vs. Davis)
Wyaskett among top 5 defenders
Clearfield senior Isabelle Wyaskett’s 5.0 steals per night rank fourth in the state, and inside the top 350 nationally.
Averaging 11.9 points per night, Wyaskett’s 35 made free throws lead the region, ranking fifth in 5A and 20th in the state.
Smith, Williams lead Region 12 girls
Layton Christian senior Ava Smith and Morgan junior Makayla Williams are each poised for big things as region time nears.
Smith (17.6 ppg, 9.5 rpg) is averaging a double-double nearly every night, and the five she currently owns rank 13th in the state. She’s scored in double figures in 10 of 11 appearances so far this season.
Williams, on the other hand, has stepped up for 4-7 Morgan as of late. Williams’ 19.6 points per 32 minutes rank fourth in the state, and her 17.6 points per night tie Smith as the region high.
Three local freshmen among top 10 scorers
Bear River’s Maylee Higlee (11.9 ppg), West Field’s Kenzxie Bagby (11.0 ppg), and Roy High’s Lily Solomona (7.9 ppg) are in unique company with the state’s top 10 freshmen scorers.
Higley dropped a career-high 22 points against Juan Diego on Dec. 2, and her 28 made 3-point field goals rank 11th in the state.
