Lacrosse playoff roundup: Bear River teams into semifinals; Davis boys advance

GARLAND — No. 1 Bear River High girls lacrosse won a 55th consecutive match and beat up No. 9 Sky View (10-7) by a 16-3 score in the 4A quarterfinals Saturday.

Emma Kierstead scored four goals to lead the Bears (19-0) while Shelby Wilkinson, Ella Criddle and Brooklyn Briel each scored three. Wilkinson added three assists. Brighton Wise, Tristin Smart and Kyzie Potter saw home the win in goal.

Bear River next draws No. 5 Provo (16-3) in a 6 p.m. semifinal Tuesday, May 20, at Westminster College.

RIVERTON 10, DAVIS 9

RIVERTON — No. 6 Davis (13-7) took a tough loss to No. 3 Riverton (15-4) in the 6A quarterfinals. No stats were provided.

MTN RIDGE 18, SYRACUSE 6

HERRIMAN — No. 9 Syracuse (12-7) bowed out of the 6A playoffs with a quarterfinal loss at No. 1 Mountain Ridge (16-3). No stats were provided.

CEDAR VALLEY 16, BOX ELDER 14

EAGLE MOUNTAIN — No. 13 Box Elder (11-10) lost a high-scoring affair in a matchup of deep upset runs at No. 12 Cedar Valley (13-7), sending the Aviators to the semifinals. No stats were provided.

DAVIS 18, FREMONT 6

KAYSVILLE — Luke Donigan scored six goals and No. 2 Davis (18-0) remained undefeated with a win over No. 7 Fremont (12-6) to advance to the 6A state semifinals.

Davis will next face No. 3 Skyridge (19-0) at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Westminster College.

JUAN DIEGO 9, WEST FIELD 8 (OT)

TAYLOR — No. 9 Juan Diego (11-8) gave No. 1 seed West Field some heartbreak Saturday with an overtime goal in the 4A state quarterfinals.

Gage Wright scored four goals for West Field (16-4). Grady Call scored once and tallied three assists. Carter Thornock went the distance in goal, recording 10 saves. JD freshman goalie Brayden Andersen totaled 18 saves.

BEAR RIVER 15, SKY VIEW 11

GARLAND — No. 3 Bear River outscored region foe and No. 6 seed Sky View (13-7) with four goals apiece from Ty Hess and Tucker Nielson on Saturday to get the Bears to the 4A state semifinals.

Bear River will take on No. 2 Judge Memorial (13-6) at noon Wednesday, May 21, at Westminster College.

PARK CITY 9, NORTHRIDGE 1

PARK CITY — No. 6 Northridge (12-6) saw its run end in the 5A quarterfinals with a loss at No. 3 Park City (14-5). No stats were provided.

SALT LAKE CITY — No. 9 Northridge (12-6) fell in a heartbreaker at No. 1 seed East (17-2) in the 5A state quarterfinals, playing to a 1-1 draw through regulation and extra time before losing 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
