Prep basketball roundup: Roy boys top Weber; Fremont posts 2 wins

Roy High boys basketball players huddle before a game Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, in Roy.ROY — Roy High boys basketball outscored Weber 28-16 in the final frame to rally for a 65-57 home win Tuesday night.
Boston Greenhalgh posted a double-double for Roy (2-2) on 26 points with two 3-pointers and 11 rebounds. Jesse Jones added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Anthony Parker scored 13.
Derik Bowden led Weber (0-2) with 22 points and two 3-pointers. Thomas Packer scored 12 points.
FREMONT 64, SUMMIT ACADEMY 57
PLAIN CITY — Fremont took control with a 28-11 third-quarter advantage in a home win over Summit Academy.
Cam Campbell and Easton Hansen each scored 17 points for Fremont (1-2). Eli Simkins added 10 points while Zach Hancock tallied nine points and 15 rebounds.
WEST FIELD 52, RIDGELINE 50
MILLVILLE — West Field led 48-38 after three quarters, then held off a Ridgeline rally for a road win.
Cason Malan led West Field (2-0) with 15 points. Daxton Laughter added 14 points and Drew Faddis scored 10.

HYRUM — Box Elder led 31-23 at the half and held on for a win in a tight game at Mountain Crest.
Eli Gilmore led Box Elder (3-0) with 19 points. Ryan Jenson scored 12 points with two 3-pointers. McKay Deem added nine points and two treys.
WESTLAKE 70, DAVIS 51
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Davis led 15-12 after one quarter, but lost the second stanza 18-7 and could not recover in a season-opening loss at Westlake.
Cameron Brower led Davis (0-1) with 15 points and two 3-pointers. Bode Sparrow added 10 points and Tradon Bessenger hauled in five rebounds.
SKY VIEW 71, BONNEVILLE 67
WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville led 54-45 after three quarters only to be outscored 26-13 in the final frame in a home loss to Sky View.
Bryson Landis led Bonneville (0-2) with 23 points and nine rebounds. Cohen Cypers added 18 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the 3-point line.
PROV HALL 69, BEN LOMOND 57
OGDEN — Taggart Bush scored a game-high 31 points and Ben Lomond led 32-26 at the half but was outscored 21-7 in the third quarter in a home loss to Providence Hall.
Kru Boyle and Cole Parkinson each added 12 points for Ben Lomond (0-5).

PLAIN CITY — Fremont took a 30-16 lead into halftime and held off a Davis comeback bid for a home win.
Brynn Wadman led all scorers with 16 points for Fremont (2-0). Abby Christensen added 15 points and Olivia Surrage scored nine points.
Kate Willard led Davis (1-2) with 12 points. Hannah Garlock tallied 11 points while Lydia Tarbet scored nine.
WEBER 57, ROY 32
ROY — Weber ran out to a 25-7 lead after the first quarter in a big win at Roy.
Rylee Jugler led all scorers with 20 points and three 3-pointers for Weber (3-0). Bradey Schiffman added 14 points and nine rebounds. Jade Kulpa scored 10 points.
Jazzi Prieto led Roy (0-3) with 13 points and two 3-pointers. Lily Solomona scored 11 points.

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield outscored Layton 16-4 in the second quarter to take control in a home win.
Ciara De La O scored a game-high 16 points with four 3-pointers for Clearfield (2-1). Izzy Wyaskett tallied 13 points.
Kenley Bennie led Layton (1-3) with seven points. Kaymbree Henry scored six points and Bryndee Kozisek tallied five points.

BRIGHAM CITY — Bear River won the fourth quarter 10-4 to force overtime, then Box Elder outscored the Bears 8-4 in bonus basketball for the home win.

Ava Smith led all scorers with 23 points for Layton Christian (3-1). Tuana Sultan and Denise Barrera each added eight points while Gracie Maloney-Holland and Naima Babb scored seven points apiece.

STANSBURY PARK — Ogden held Stansbury to single-digit scoring in every quarter in a road win.
Salote Tonga led Ogden (1-2) with 13 points. Hazel Nadolski and Lauretta Taukiuvea each scored six points. Taylor Duke tallied five points and five assists.

SMITHFIELD — Morgan trailed 13-12 after one quarter but could get no closer in a road loss at Sky View on Monday.
