Prep roundup: Box Elder football keeps plowing ahead with blowout of Bonneville
WASHINGTON TERRACE — Judd Howells rushed for four touchdowns to lead Box Elder High football to a 60-27 region win Friday at Bonneville.
Kadyn Reyes got Box Elder (6-1, 3-0 Region 5) on the board with a 4-yard run with 9:39 left in the first quarter. Howells scored on runs of 22, 10, 5 and 1 yards.
Cammon Bushnell found the endzone on a 35-yard rush and Logan Cefalo scored on a 1-yard run. Reyes tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Maddox Earnest. Bridger Richards capped the scoring with a 70-yard run.
Ashton Spackman returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown late in the first quarter for Bonneville (0-7, 0-4), cutting the lead to 21-7. Jakob Smith connected with Briggs Taylor for a 1-yard touchdown pass and found Spackman for a 70-yard scoring strike. Noah Chavez scored the Lakers’ final points on a 6-yard scamper with 2 minutes left in the first half.
With the win, Box Elder closed the gap in the all-time series to one; Bonneville leads 29-28 dating to 1960.
ROY 28, CLEARFIELD 21
CLEARFIELD — Moresby Tauiautusa rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns to lead Roy to a second consecutive win, defeating Clearfield.
Rock Speredon threw for 90 yards and rushed for 30 more, adding a touchdown on the ground for Roy (2-5, 2-2 Region 5). Gunner Pearson added 43 rushing yards. Synic Harvey caught two passes for 66 yards. Mason Engstrom had eight solo tackles.
For Clearfield (2-5, 0-3), Brik Barlow was 15 of 23 for 179 yards and two touchdowns, adding one rushing touchdown. Both scores went to Landon Hittle, who caught seven passes for 87 yards. Julius Salima added 45 rushing yards on 14 carries. Cooper Kirkman tallied eight total tackles.
MORGAN 56, BEN LOMOND 0
MORGAN — Cade Randall completed all five of his passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns to lead Morgan to a big win over Ben Lomond (0-6, 0-2 3A North).
Morgan (6-1, 2-0) scored six touchdowns on nine offensive plays in the first half, taking a 42-0 lead into the break.
Jack Hurd took a Randall pass 65 yards to the endzone on the Trojans’ first play from scrimmage. On Morgan’s next play, Eli Mortensen got behind the Ben Lomond (0-6, 0-2) defense and turned Randall’s heave into a 44-yard score.
Morgan deflected a Scots punt and, on the next play, George Thurston scored on a 28-yard run. Kanyon Lionelli capped a two-play drive with a 29-yard touchdown run, then on Morgan’s next play, Brody Peterson scored on a 46-yard run.
After halftime, Jackson Pierce rushed 66 yards for a touchdown. Jarek McCleary capped the scoring on a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown with 8:23 left in the game.
Stats provided by Morgan show the Trojans outgaining the Scots 398 to minus-22. Randall threw for 159 yards.
GRANTSVILLE 42, OGDEN 7
OGDEN — After spotting Grantsville (4-3, 2-0 3A North) a 35-0 lead, Nash Bockwoldt got behind the Cowboy defense and took a Blake Weston pass 85 yards for a touchdown for the only Ogden (4-3, 1-1) score.

WENDOVER — St. Joseph swept Wendover (4-18, 0-7 Region 22) by scores of 25-12, 25-14, 25-12.
Ally Pilacik tallied seven kills, six digs and two aces for St. Joseph (11-7, 5-2). Sophie Yates added 15 digs and five aces. Regan Fischer had 15 assists, four kills and two aces. Mya Rogers posted six kills, three digs and three aces.
